Has Your Web Designer Fallen For The 7 Deadly Sins?

Choosing a web designer can be a minefield. Make the wrong choice and you’ll regret it for years to come – right up till the day that you tear your site down and start again! So it amazes me that so many websites get commissioned on trust. All too often, scrutiny ends with “You know how to get something up online, so yes, you’ve got the gig!” Reality check: there are some phenomenal web designers out there. But... It’s not an accredited industry, so anyone (literally anyone) can wake up tomorrow morning, decide they’re a web designer and hit … [Read more...]

Social Media Speakers

I have been into social media since it was born. Since before there was such a thing as Social Media Speakers; Contrary to popular belief social media as a concept really came to life when Twitter hit the scene making it really easy for the masses to create an online persona which was free and really easy to use. All of a sudden we could communicate around the globe in near real time, make friends and connect to people never before possible. OK, FaceBook was a bit earlier but back then it was not really used in the way it is today. Yes, the … [Read more...]

Why do we feel guilty when we have to say No!

This is a very common scenario for us: We receive many requests from potential clients asking for advice which they think is simple, quick and easy, when in reality the request requires the attention of an experienced developer and SEO practitioner to answer the question's posed. Here's an example. Hi Mick - We have a website but we don’t seem to get enough visitors, can you have a quick look at our website and advise us on SEO and other ways to get more visitors to our website? The question is honest and well-meaning but…. My answer has to be as … [Read more...]

SEO Training Crammed with Information & Humour

Last Friday was the first time I've been in the same room as Mick that I actually got a chance to make the time to get to know him better. The occasion was a masterclass getting great SEO on a website and the effects of the new kids on the Google block (penguin, panda with a dose of caffeine thrown in for good measure!). Wow! Mick paced the training perfectly, crammed with information, good humour, and about thirty hints and tips which will enable me to move my own sites forward immediately, plus a lot more to show why it is so important to get … [Read more...]
